About the event:
The Rural Women’s Network invites you to a special event that will bring together volunteer women, connect them to the Rural Women’s Network and each other while celebrating all they do for others.
A delicious High Tea, guest speakers, gift bag and free wellbeing services will be part of the celebration.
Date: Thursday, 23 May 2024
Time: 1.30pm – 3.30pm (Registration from 1:00pm)
Venue: Riverine Club, 3 Sturt Street, Wagga Wagga
Volunteers Week (20 – 26 May 2024) is the premier celebration of volunteers in Australia and provides an ideal opportunity to connect and celebrate the diverse volunteering stories across the state. Without volunteers, many groups including charities, emergency services, the arts, the environment, social justice, education, and sporting organisations would struggle to survive. We want to say thank you to our NSW volunteers for the vital role they play in their communities and offer our guests an afternoon of recognition and fun.
Hidden Treasures Honour Roll is a program run by the Rural Women’s Network that acknowledges and recognises extraordinary women who volunteer in their rural, regional, or remote communities. Volunteers are nominated by the community and organisations they serve. At this event the Minister for Women will launch the Hidden Treasures Honour Roll for 2023. As Hidden Treasures shows - people of all ages volunteer. Our youngest Hidden Treasure volunteer for 2023 is just 13 years old!

Knitting Together

Creativity, Collaboration and Change

By KOCO Knitting’s Founder and CEO Danielle Chiel

The vision for KOCO began to take shape, born from a desire to blend the time-honored tradition of hand-knitting with the fast-paced world of global fashion.

From the moment my grandmother first placed knitting needles in my hands, I felt a spark of creativity that would ignite a lifelong passion.

As I grew, so did my love for the craft – a love that would eventually lead me to the vibrant villages of rural Tamil Nadu, India, where I discovered a community of women whose skill and dedication to hand-knitting rivaled my own.
